When we look at our Mihingare calendar, there are a number of tīpuna who have been significant Kaikawe o te Rongopai – carriers of the Gospel – throughout the country.
As a consequence, we feel it pertinent to recognise these people, as we do in our lectionary, but in a way that tamariki might relate to.
For those rohe who might like to recognise their tīpuna on the week of their commemoration, we have provided supplementary lessons. These can be used in addition to that week’s lesson, or instead of it.
We recognise that including our tīpuna in the lessons and the story of Christ today is what keeps them alive and makes their efforts continue to be relevant today.
For those rangatahi who might be ambitious enough to try and run a service commemorating their tīpuna, we have provided easy to read and follow service templates which fit into one page. The service templates have been adapted from the book, ‘For All the Saints’ by Ken Booth.
