Tikanga Toru Youth Sunday
22nd October, 2023.

This is a Sunday to celebrate rangatahi and to nurture and give thanks for being woven into our three tikanga Church.
It is the closest Sunday to the day that we remember a young Māori woman, Tarore of Waharoa.

Where and who will you be celebrating 3 Tikanga Youth Sunday with this year?

Below is some information, some ideas and some resources on how you can celebrate this special day.

Te pānui kei te pukapuka o Ruka, te 18 o ngā upoko, ka timata i te whiti 1

Nā, ka kōrero ia i tētahi kupu whakarite ki a rātou mō tēnei, kia īnoi rātou i ngā wā katoa, kia kaua e ngoikore. I taua pā anō tētahi pouaru; ā, ka haere mai tērā ki a ia, ka mea, “Takitakina tōku mate i tōku hoa tauwhāinga.”

Today’s reading comes from the book of Luke, chapter 18, beginning at verse 1

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’

“For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”

And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”
